Week 5 - Updates & Tutorial
I finally came up with a plot!!! (Please read Week 2 if you don't know what's going on)
I have a dream journal on my phone where I write whatever dreams I remember. I really like my dreams and love to see how it ends, sometimes I end up dreaming the same dream so I tend to write them down so that I can piece them back together. For the story I'm writing, I decided to complete one of my dreams. The story below was my dream and I changed it a bit to fit to a more general story.
A dream where elephants were taken to an island where meat from their legs are extracted but the gate came loose so they escaped angry and seeking revenge from humans. People started fleeing to the oceans but elephants came after them, it's now humans against sea animals?
However, I didn't receive the most positive reaction towards my story, in fact Steve had said it was a bit too violent for my target audience. So, after this week's tutorial I scrapped my plot and made a whole new one with roughly the same characters but with a different backstory and a different point of view as well as making the elephant my main character instead of the of the boy. This was to make the story a little more interesting and to allow me to play a little more with its progression. You know, something like "A Dog's Purpose" where everything is from the animal's, the main character's, point of view.
I started writing out the draft for my first chapter but perhaps because I know I will go over it again it's honestly kind of sloppy work right now, just a way for me to roughly get down how I would like the story to progress before worrying about the finer details.
I checked with Mike on Friday to get a second opinion on the plot and got an okay so I plan to proceed and then check again with Stephen tomorrow and hopefully finish up my proposal before Thursday to show as a final check to make sure everything is going well.
Fingers crossed for positive feedback.
